EMDR & EMDR Intensives
Evidence-based trauma processing — at your own pace, or accelerated through an intensive format.
What Is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and integrate traumatic memories. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — such as guided eye movements or tapping — to reduce the emotional charge of painful memories. The result is that memories that once felt overwhelming become more neutral, allowing you to move forward without being pulled back into the past.
EMDR can help with
- Single-incident trauma (accidents, assaults, loss)
- Complex & repeated trauma (childhood, relational)
- PTSD & acute stress disorder
- Phobias & distressing memories
- Anxiety rooted in past experiences
- Perinatal & birth trauma
- Medical trauma & chronic illness
How EMDR Works
EMDR follows a structured eight-phase protocol designed to ensure you feel safe and prepared before processing begins. We start by building your history and identifying targets, then move into preparation — developing coping tools and stabilization skills. Processing happens gradually, always at a pace that feels manageable. Many clients notice meaningful shifts within just a few sessions, though the timeline varies depending on the complexity of what we're working through.
The 8 phases
- History taking & treatment planning
- Preparation & stabilization
- Assessment of target memories
- Desensitization with bilateral stimulation
- Installation of positive beliefs
- Body scan & somatic check-in
- Closure & grounding
- Reevaluation & next steps
EMDR Intensives
EMDR is available to all clients during our weekly 50-minute sessions. However, EMDR intensives are extended, concentrated sessions designed for clients who want to make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time—or whose schedules make weekly therapy difficult. Rather than spreading processing across multiple 50-minute sessions, intensives allow you to remain immersed in the therapeutic process, often leading to deeper insight, greater continuity, and more sustained momentum.
